Encompass Components
The Encompass ActiveX and .Net components are currently comprised of the following Windows .DLL and .OCX files…
  • ADO connection manager.
  • Attribute Editor grid.
  • Application Variables manager – used in place of INI files or individual registries to administer application settings on a network server.
  • Earth Resources ECW interface - used to display compressed orthophoto backdrops.
  • Feature Class Browser.
  • Feature Dictionary – Encompass’ metadata manager used to organize feature classes, their groupings, and attributes.
  • Geocoding Library – performs rule-based address matching.
  • Geometry Editor – included in an application to provide simple sketching capabilities or full-blown feature editing.
  • Image Server.
  • Keymap (shown in the background).
  • Map Legend – control the content and display styles in the map window.
  • Library of mapping classes and functions.
  • Map Projection library.
  • Map Toolbar – pan and zoom the map window; measure and identify the map graphics.
  • MapWrap – display the map graphics on the screen, printers, and plotters.  MapWrap can use one of four map technologies:  ESRI's MapObjects, ESRI's ArcObjects, Intergraph's GeoMedia Objects, or the Encompass map engine.
  • Polygon Overlay library.
  • PrintMap – preview and print maps and map series.
  • Query management components – three components used together or separately to create and manage simple or complex attribute and spatial queries.
  • Translation components - four components used to convert between Encompass and DXF, Shapefile, ESRI's geodatabase, and Trimble's Pathfinder Office.
  • View management components – four components used together or separately to manage map view contents.
